After the wedding festivities in Sonoma for Jared and Courtney, we were able to enjoy breakfast with the family at a great breakfast spot they’d scouted out. We probably didn’t get my Dad’s birthday its proper birthday celebration. After stuffing ourselves on delicious made-in-the-restaurant sausages and pancakes, we packed up our stuff (no small task to pack, nor to carry the items to the car) and got on the road. The trip back to San Francisco started inauspiciously as Ryder had an epic meltdown even before we were in the car. Continue reading

Bathing. Old School.

Again, this photo came up on my desktop and I just felt like I had to share it. It’s a very old one of Ryder – really old, I know, because he was still bathing on the kitchen counter, in plain view of electrical sockets etc. It’s crazy how small he was, how “glistening” he happened to be at this moment, and his enjoyment of the rubber duckie that is not the typical way that kids play with their rubber duckies in the tub.

Cali Trip: The Long Haul North

Siam (the newly gifted plush beanie baby cat) was no charm when it came to the long car ride. Eventually, we needed to make our big move up the Northern California, after the Camarillo lunch was over and we’d done a little bit more visiting. Ryder had a little nap on the way out of town, but by the time he woke up in the car (not too long after departure) he really wasn’t excited to be on a family road trip, or cooped up in the car seat.
