If you’ve been directed here by an email, it’s because you provided financial support for the Climate Cycle event that I recently participated in. Most of my support came from my relationships with you, but in some cases people were excited about the cause itself. Either way, I thought it worthwhile to share some of the results that the event organizers shared with us in an email.

In total, there were about 300 riders in the event. These riders raised a total of $67,000. The money raised will toward toward the installation of solar panels in 6 Chicago area schools, two of which have already been chosen, and 4 of which remain to be selected. 175 volunteers helped as well to make the event run smoothly. (That’s a pretty favorable ratio of volunteers to riders, if I do say so myself)

So it seems like it was a success to me.
I found page on the Climate Cycle’s site that offers some additional rationale for why the organizers believe in this particular cause, and why it is significant.

First of all thanks to all of those who supported me as I rode in the first-annual Climate Cycle ride a few weeks months ago (early May).  It seems like a while ago now, and I apologize for not getting this recap up here earlier. I really appreciate everyone’s monetary support and words of encouragement – in the short time, I exceeded the fund-raising goal I set for myself thanks that the help of so many good friends and family.
