This Happened

Last night A while ago we had dinner at our friend’s – Grant and Tessa – house. They have two little ones named Remi (almost 3 years old and Schafer 9 mo.) Remi likes Maisy a lot; she gives her gentle pats and often says sweet things to her. After dinner, Ryan was holding Maisy and the following conversation ensued:

Remi: “Maisy is really cute.”
Ryan: “She really is, isn’t she?!”
Remi: “She’s fat.”

Fat?
Fat? Naaaaw

  1. I’m guessing there was more to this conversation? She’s a baby, and babies are all cute and chubby and stuff. Is that what she meant?
Did you know we’re having girl? I’ve been thinking a lot lately about girls and the pressure to be cute. Even babies! So not fair.

  2. Min! Sorry for the lag in the response. There really wasn’t much more to this conversation because I was surprised by the whole thing. We constantly drill Maisy to be cute, and if she’s not cute enough we lock her in the closet. Naaaw. We don’t lock it.

  3. Oh, and by the way, we didn’t know you’re having a girl, congratulations on that! We really miss you guys…Amy and Mark just moved out of the building too, but at least they’re in the neighborhood.
